Twitter Auto-Posters are So Annoying!
Over the last week or two I’ve set out on a Twitter mission to improve my position in the Web Development industry. After reading a number of articles about gaining quality Twitter followers and targeting your audience on Twitter, I set off.
I have tasked myself with searching a single hash tag per day (#MongoDB, #MySQL, #PHP, #cURL) and following people who have some interesting and useful tweets.
So far I have been somewhat successful, but one thing I have noticed is the amount of people who are using Twitter Auto-Posters
What the hell is an Auto-Poster!?
Okay, I don’t know if this is the right name for these bots, but to me an Auto-Poster is just a program that is posting random, pre-defined tweets at twitter, and the annoying part is, they are all trying to market things to me.
I’m on Twitter! I don’t want to be marketed at!
Let’s not lie, no one ever wants to be a subject of marketing, but we all are. Most of the time we don’t notice is because it’s presented nicely.
For instance – why am I posting this blog? I want people to come and read my site, and follow me on Twitter (@garydevenay FYI). But I don’t shout out FOLLOW ME FOLLOW ME (leave your homes and family?). I am presenting something for free, and hopefully will get your following in return.
So my advice to anyone who is debating using an auto-poster. Don’t. I would unfollow you and I’m sure there are a good few others who will too.
